Quand Geneviève Toupin chante, c'est le vent qui souffle sur les plaines de son Manitoba natal que l'on entend dans sa voix souple et enveloppante. D’où son style qualifié de prairie-pop. S'accompagnant au piano ou à la guitare, elle présente les chansons pop-folk intimistes tirées de son premier album. Manitoba-born Geneviève Toupin has a warm, gently melancholy voice. With piano or guitar, her intimate songs travel between folk and pop, fog and light. Geneviève Toupin was a 2006 finalist at the Festival international de la chanson de Granby. The next year, at Montreal’s Festival Vue sur la relève, she was awarded a “Coup de pouce pour la Bourse RIDEAU 2008.” In May 2007, she recorded a five-song mini-album with musicians Damien Robitaille and Erik West-Millette. With simple arrangements, the songs are laid bare, with their evocative lyrics that recall time passing, doubt, hope, love, and friendship with moving simplicity. Geneviève will play her piano and guitar with two musicians. Her show is personal, yet her tone remains light and natural. en Spectacle
